Clean Cooking Activities
Over the last one year, WODEC has partnered with local schools to distribute energy saving cooking stoves for select schools and community institutions in Uasin Gishu County. One of the institutions that recently benefited from their scheme, include, the Kenya Community Sports Foundation (KESOFO) which was given one improved cook stove for the Children Safer Spaces project within Eldoret town.
WODEC is a member of the Improved Cook Stoves for East Africa, a Coordinating and Managing Entity, for the carbon access PoA umbrella covering the five countries of the East African Community (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi), plus Sudan and Ethiopia. The PoA has finished its validation and is now close to registration. Each Supplier Organization (or group of small manufacturers, distributors, or importers) can join the œopen-source PoA, and each can have multiple CDM Programme Activity projects (CPAs).
Partnership
WODEC is interested in establishing viable partnerships with donors and clean stove manufacturers. In particular, we are interested in setting up a manufacturing plant and hence we would be keen to develop a Memorandum of Understanding and a cooperation framework with any entity willing to set up a factory in Kenya and the East African region.
Already we have many women-led companies all over the East African region which would form a solid network of distributors of clean stoves and allied clean energy products
