World Central Kitchen has created a strong model for working within communities, focused on empowerment and inclusion of the local population. World Central Kitchen is also deeply committed to working with government and non-governmental partners to learn, research, evaluate, and understand the complex issues driving chronic food insecurity and poverty in communities all over the world, using this information to create dynamic solutions that include innovative technology like clean cookstoves. Already, the model that World Central Kitchen has begun implementing in Haiti is receiving international attention. Partnership
Founded by world-renowned Chef Jose Andres, World Central Kitchen is a U.S. based, 501c3, humanitarian organization that partners with non-governmental organization's "on the ground" in other countries. World Central Kitchen's expertise in using the power of food, allows the organization to clearly define its methods and focus on finding smart solutions to hunger and poverty. Today, World Central Kitchen operates in Haiti, primarily in Palmiste Tampe (Font Veret) and Port Au Prince. Working with community members including the Haitian Ministry of Tourism, Architecture for Humanity, CESAL, and the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), World Central Kitchen seeks to foster economic development within some of Haiti's most vulnerable communities by empowering citizens, providing training on clean cookstoves, creating jobs, and strengthening local businesses. Due to the early success of World Central Kitchen's current work in Haiti, the organization has recently formed partnerships that have lead to expansion projects in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, and Zambia. World Central Kitchen seeks to partner with the Alliance to stay abreast of new technologies and gain support for expanding clean cooking technology into underserved communities where it can have the greatest impact.
