Junior Energy Advisor – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

DeveloPPP is a programme offered by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany to promote collaboration with actors in the private sector. Companies that want to invest sustainably in a developing or emerging country and expand their local operations can receive financial and technical support under the programme. In April 2024, GIZ India will start a develoPPP project with the Indian solar technology provider Ornate Solar on building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and rail/road-integrated photovoltaics (RIPV). By harnessing solar energy through BIPV and RIPV innovations, India could significantly increase its  olar capacity, which is crucial to meet its target of becoming net-zero by 2070, tackle existing challenges of land scarcity and land competition with regards to conventional solar projects, and strengthen its local solar ecosystem. Hence, the overarching objective of the develoPPP project is to increase awareness and capacity among relevant stakeholders in India for BIPV and RIPV as innovative solar applications. This shall be achieved through the installation of demonstration projects, capacity building programmes for stakeholders as well as the initiation of policy dialogues to develop effective policy interventions supporting the deployment of both technologies.a
