Safe, reliable and clean access to energy for cooking, studying, socializing is a basic need for everyone. However, for many refugees, cooking a meal, studying at home during dark hours or having a light to move around more securely at night is a luxury. Providing refugees with a means to cook a warm meal and to go to the latrines at night without fear are important components of providing protection and respecting their dignity.
The May edition of Innovating for Good monthly Google Hangout series hosted by UNHCR Innovation and +SocialGood will discuss the numerous impacts of energy security in the daily lives of refugees, and will deepen the conversation started on this blog post:https://innovation.unhcr.org/the-best-way-to-achieve-sustainable-energy-for-refugees-is-to-make-them-partners-and-not-just-recipients
