About The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves
The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is an initiative of the United Nations Foundation which seeks to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions. The Alliance’s goal calls for 100 million households to adopt clean and efficient stoves and fuels by 2020. The Alliance is working with over 1,600 public, private and non-profit partners to help overcome the market barriers which currently impede the production, deployment and use of clean cookstoves and fuels in the developing world.
About the Household Energy. Health & Climate Research Group, UC Berkeley
The Household Energy, Health & Climate Research Group at UC Berkeley is the oldest research group in the world focusing on the energy, climate, and health impacts of household fuel use. The research group focuses on environmental and health issues in developing countries, particularly those related to health-damaging and climate-changing air pollution from household energy use, and currently conducts field measurements and health-effects studies in India and Nepal. In addition, it develops and deploys small, smart and cheap microchip-based monitors for use in these settings.
