Three dimensional energy profile:nA conceptual framework for assessing household energy use
While energy is not generally considered a basic human need, the provision of adequate, reliable, and affordable energy is a precondition for meeting these needs. Given its strong links to economic growth and social objectives, energy service provision is a corner- stone of development. Having access to modern energy systems (e.g. electricity or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)) impacts human well being by reducing health and safety risks associated with traditional energy use, decreasing time budget constraints on household members, particularly women and children, increasing labor productivity and income, and improving gender inequality and literacy.
