Organization
ASSOCIAÇÃO CASAMIGA CHAPTER
Mission
To solve two problems; household air pollution and the devastating destruction to our environment by cutting trees for firewood and charcoal production.
To produce low cost cookers that burn biomass waste, process by-products with no or low economic value and processed biomass waste fuels. We will deliver 1,000,000 units to Mozambican families by the year 2020. The development of a refpack for refugee use and in emergencies - Research and Development is complete for this model.

Clean Cooking Activities
We designed a cookstove that cooks on biomass waste materials; sawdust, bagasse, cotton waste, maize stover, milled cobs, tobacco scrap, animal dung, soya stalks, peanut shells, hay, grass cuttings, leaves, pine needles, sisal waste, paper waste. To date we have identified 37 materials. We have done R&D for waste material solid fuel packs and it is now complete. We will distribute the cookstove first in Mozambique, then the region and globally. We are committed to the cookstove adoption and will invite all level participation from organizations of all sizes, and having successfully qualified, we will provide the technical data and blue prints for the cookstove and the fuels for global establishment.
Partnership
We will monitor the Casamiga® cookstove application, through village heads, extension officers, and incorporate senior school students for impact to the younger generation. We will distribute the cookstove in Mozambique and expand regionally and globally. Our commitment is reaching out to the disadvantaged and rural communities. The rural impact is huge on the environment and HAP as there are no ready alternatives! This is part of our target and we will educate, demonstrate and monitor the adoption in their homes.
We will demonstrate the use of the cookstove and its many applications. We will develop biomass handling and its transportation to convenient sites for use. We will identify and quantify biomass fuel, there will be ongoing research during the project initiation of biomass as a viable and alternative energy source for the Casamiga application and for utilization as a heating source, steam production for schools, clinics and hospitals. This will be done initially in the field where biomass has been produced as a waste product.
Of the more than 2 million families in Mozambique, we seek to deliver a million Casamiga cookstoves by 2020 in Mozambique alone.
We will invite regional and global participation by candidates in targeted countries in Asia and the Pacific Rim that share our problems; deforestation and women’s health (HAP) problems.
The relevant authority will select a team of competent volunteers under the supervision of a senior technician who will be responsible for the team during their three month stay in Mozambique.
They will undergo comprehensive training in all aspects of the Casamiga Chapter, working in the field studying fuel sustainability, looking at the impact of (HAP) in rural areas, and getting feedback by end users. At the culmination of their stay they will go through a thorough evaluation to establish whether they will be able to set up the Casamiga Chapter in their country of origin. We will provide the Team Leader the Technical Data and Blue Prints of our cookstove models.
This makes the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves goal of a 100 million cookstoves by 2020 more realistic.
