Karuna Bajracharya

Country Representative, Nepal

Karuna Bajracharya is the Nepal Country Representative at the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA). Prior to joining CCA, she was a household energy and development analyst at ICIMOD, where she spent her time developing organizational strength in mitigating air pollution from cooking and other sources of rural energy while working directly with communities. Prior to that, Karuna worked for Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) in different capacities (i.e. National Adviser, Manager and Component Coordinator for Biomass Energy /Improved Cook Stove component of Danida and Norway; supported National Rural and Renewable Energy Programme (NRREP); and Energy Sector Assistance Programme (ESAP)). During her tenure at AEPC, she was extensively involved in striving new ventures related to the development of the clean cooking sector in Nepal such as support on the establishment of cookstove testing wing at Renewable Energy Test Station (RETs)/Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), advisor to the development of Nepal standard and interim benchmark for wood-burning cookstove suitable for the Nepalese context. Karuna holds dual Masters degrees MBA and MA Social Science from Ace Institute of Management Pokhara University and Tribhuban University, Nepal.
