My name is Mwayi Kampesi CEO and founder of Planet Green Africa. I am very passionate about the environment and poverty reduction through job creation and economic development. An architect by profession, I quit my job in the profession cooperate world to fulfill this passion.
I founded my first business, In House-Interiors in 2014 a sustainable green interiors business which served to fulfil this need and finally allowed me to create the positive change i wanted to see in society. In 2017, I founded Planet Green Africa a renewable energy company, with the same purpose guiding my direction. Producing eco-friendly cooking briquettes from recycled agricultural waste while closely working with the local small holder women farmers to procure the agricultural waste and partnering with local women groups to sell the final briquette product. Improving how thousands of Malawians cook whilst economically empowering women, saving forestry and uplifting lives.
I have received several awards and recognitions for my drive and commitment among others being recognized by Forbes Magazine; listed on 2017 Forbes Africa 30 under 30, the Obama foundation African leader of 2019 and listed as 100 Top start-ups under the World Youth Forum. I am also Mandela Washington Fellow, and a Young African Leader.
