Akil Callender
Akil Callender is a Youth Energy Advocate and Energy Specialist from Trinidad and Tobago. He currently works as the SDG7 Youth Specialist at Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), where he leads the organization’s global youth focus around achieving SDG7 through the pillars of advocacy, education, capacity building and resource mobilization and ensures that youth are included in SEforALL’s existing scope of activities, such as closing the energy access gap, ensuring that there is universal access to clean cooking technologies and helping to enable the energy transition. Prior to joining SEforALL, Akil worked as an Energy Consultant at the World Bank, where he provided policy support to enable the scale-up of renewable energy and building power sector climate resilience in the Caribbean region. In his role as a youth advocate for SDG7, Akil also speaks on energy challenges on an international stage, campaigning to bring to light the unique energy issues of Small Island Developing States on various platforms and with various regional and international organisations including the UNFCCC (Pre-COP26), Sustainable Energy for ALL (SEforALL) Global Forum and the International Federation of the Red Cross.
